Submit Video
The NCH Software "What Will Computers Do When I Am 25?" School PhotoStage Video Contest is for students K through 12. A winner will be chosen once 100 submissions from 5 or more schools have been received. Schools from K through 12 will be eligible to submit student videos to be judged. The winning video will receive over $10,000 USD of NCH Software products for their school’s media lab.

The subject of the video is: What Will Computers Do When I Am 25?

First Prize: The school will receive up to 30 seats of the following software, worth over $10,000 USD, for their media lab:

Runner- up: The school will receive up to 30 seats of PhotoStage and KeyBlaze software.

Rules

  • Students must use PhotoStage to create their slideshow and export as AVI.
  • Video must include the provided image as the last image of the slideshow.

  • Video must be no longer than 3 minutes, and less than 10 megabytes.
  • Videos must not contain violence, profanity, sex, images of a prurient nature, or direct attacks on individuals or organizations. NCH Software will disqualify any entries it deems to contain offensive material.
  • The video must be students' own original creation and must not infringe on any third party rights. Entrants are responsible for obtaining all necessary permissions. No copyrighted music, video, or images may be used in submissions to this contest without appropriate permission.
  • NCH Software reserves the right to make student videos available to the general public from their respective websites, YouTube, and to distribute it to groups and any other organizations including, but not limited to, internet sites, conferences and events, on television, and other media outlets. All videos are subject to YouTube's privacy policy.
  • NCH Software reserves the right to reject an entry for any reason.
  • Students must be in grades K - 12 to participate.
  • Students from any country can participate however the text and any recordings must be in english.

How to enter

  • Create as many as one video per student. Students may also work in groups or as a class.
  • Video must start with an introduction stating, verbally or in writing, which school the video represents.
  • Video must state in the beginning of the video, verbally or in writing, “What Will Computers Do When I Am 25? School PhotoStage Video Contest.”
  • Video must end on the provided slide containing contest information.

  • To save the slideshow, click the Save Slideshow button in the PhotoStage toolbar, select the Computer / Data output format, and select the following settings:
    Preset: Custom
    File Format: AVI
    Resolution: 320x240 YouTube
    Frame Rate: 15
    Video must be no longer than 3 minutes and less than 10 megabytes
  • Email the video to contest@nchsoftware.com.
    The email must also include:
    • School name, address and phone number
    • Teacher’s name, class grade, email address and phone number
  • By submitting an entry, you are stating that you agree to the Official Rules.

Judging criteria

NCH Software reserves the right to select any entry as the winner. The NCH Software judges will be looking for the following:

  • Video meets all Official Rules and How to Enter guidelines.
  • Video demonstrates creative use of effects, transitions and sound.
  • Video is closely aligned with the contest subject of "What Will Computers Do When I Am 25?"

Privacy

The contest winner’s school name and creator(s) names (if provided) will be announced publicly, after consultation with the winners, as a part of the NCH Software contest award recognition process. Student(s) names do not have to be associated with the video, for example: Mrs. Right 1st Grade Class. However, videos will be public, so if the student(s) names are in the video they will be broadcast publicly on the internet. Schools are responsible to grant permission for student participation. NCH Software is not liable and cannot be held responsible in any way. Please keep this in mind if the video includes pictures, footage or names of students. Videos will be posted on YouTube and are subject to YouTube's privacy policy. By submitting an entry, you are stating that you agree to the Official Rules.

Legal Section

By participating in an NCH Software, Inc. contest you agree to the following:

Release: By entering agree to release NCH Software Inc. (NCH Software), Administrator, and their respective subsidiaries, affiliates, suppliers, distributors, advertising/promotion agencies, and prize suppliers, and each of their respective parent and affiliate companies and each such company’s officers, directors, employees and agents (collectively, the “Released Parties”) from and against any claim or cause of action, including, but not limited to, personal injury, death, or damage to or loss of property, arising out of participation in the Promotion or receipt or use or misuse of any prize. By entering you further agree to defend, indemnify, reimburse and hold NCH Software and its subsidiary and affiliated entities and the Released Parties, and their respective managers, officers, directors, representatives, employees, agents, successors, designees, licensees, sub-licensees and assigns harmless from and against any and all liability, loss, damages, judgments, costs and expenses (including reasonable attorney's fees, costs and expenses and court costs) arising out of or related to (i) your use of the Promotion web site or web sites and your participation in the Promotion; (ii NCH Software and/or the Release Parties’ use of your Submission; (iii) any breach or alleged breach of your representations and warranties and/or any breach, alleged breach or violation of these Official Rules; and (iv) your violation or alleged or threatened violation of any laws, rules or regulations, or any rights of a third party, including, without limitation, any trademark, copyright, patent, trade secret, defamation, right of privacy or publicity or moral rights of any third party, arising from your Submission and/or use of your Submission as contemplated hereunder.

General Conditions: NCH Software Inc. reserves the right to cancel, suspend and/or modify the Promotion, or any part of it, if any fraud, technical failures or any other factor beyond NCH Software’s reasonable control impairs the integrity or proper functioning of the Promotion, as determined by NCH Software in its sole discretion. In such event, NCH Software may, in its sole discretion, determine the Contest winners from among all non-suspect, eligible Submissions received up to time of such action using the judging procedure outlined above, and NCH Software reserves the right to award prizes at random from among the eligible entries received up to the time of the impairment. NCH Software, in its sole discretion, reserves the right to disqualify any individual it finds to be tampering with the entry process or the operation of the Promotion or to be acting in violation of these Official Rules or those of any other promotion or in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner and void all associated Submissions. Any attempt by any person to deliberately undermine the legitimate operation of the Promotion may be a violation of criminal and civil law, and, should such an attempt be made, NCH Software reserves the right to seek damages from any such person to the fullest extent permitted by law. NCH Software’s failure to enforce any term of these Official Rules shall not constitute a waiver of that provision. NCH Software reserves the right to postpone the contest submissions date if less than 5 schools submit to the contest. In this case NCH Software may change the date or structure of the contest. All submissions at that point will still be valid for contest.

Limitations of Liability: The Released Parties are not responsible for: (1) any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by entrant, printing errors or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Promotion; (2) technical failures of any kind, including, but not limited to malfunctions, interruptions, or disconnections in phone lines or network hardware or software; (3) unauthorized human intervention in any part of the entry process or the Promotion; (4) printing, typographical, technical, computer, network or human error which may occur in the administration of the Contest, the uploading, the processing or judging of Submissions or votes or the tabulating of votes, Legal the announcement of the prizes or in any Promotion-related materials; or (5) any injury or damage to persons or property which may be caused, directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, from entrant’s participation in the Promotion or receipt or use or misuse of any prize. Released Parties are not responsible for any unauthorized third party use of any Submission. If for any reason an entrant's entry is confirmed to have been erroneously deleted, lost, or otherwise destroyed or corrupted, entrant’s sole remedy is another Contestants entry, if it is possible. If the Contest, or any part of it, is discontinued for any reason, NCH Software, in its sole discretion, may elect to hold a random drawing from among all eligible entries received up to the date of discontinuance for any or all of the prizes offered herein. No more than the stated number of prizes will be awarded. If production, technical, seeding, programming or any other reasons cause more than the number of prizes stated in these Official Rules to be available and/or claimed, NCH Software reserves the right to award only the stated number of prizes by a random drawing among all legitimate, unawarded, eligible prize claims.

Disputes: Except where prohibited, entrant agrees that: (1) any and all disputes, claims and causes of action arising out of or connected with this Promotion or any prize awarded shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, and exclusively by the United States District Court of Colorado or the appropriate Colorado State Court located in Denver County, Colorado; (2) any and all claims, judgments and awards shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred, including costs associated with entering this Promotion, but in no event attorneys’ fees; and (3) under no circumstances will entrant be permitted to obtain awards for, and entrant hereby waives all rights to claim, indirect, punitive, incidental and consequential damages and any other damages, other than for actual out-of-pocket expenses, and any and all rights to have damages multiplied or otherwise increased. All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules, or the rights and obligations of the entrant and NCH Software in connection with the Promotion, shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of the State of Colorado without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules (whether of the State of Colorado or any other jurisdiction), which would cause the application of the laws of any jurisdiction other than the State of Colorado.
