How can I encode a video using DivX?

There are several DivX encoders, including:

  • DivX - An implementation of the MPEG-4 Part 2 standard.
  • DivX Plus HD - An implementation of the H.264 / MPEG-4 AVC standard.
  • DivX HEVC - An implementation of the H.265 / HEVC standard.

Prism comes with alternative implementations of MPEG-4 and H.264, which means DivX is not needed to achieve the same results. To use the implementations that come with Prism:

  • Change Output Format to either .avi or .mp4.
  • Click Encoder Options.
  • Change the video compressor to MPEG4 or H264.

If you prefer to use the DivX MPEG-4 or H.264 encoder implementations, or if you want to encode HEVC, it can be done using the following steps:

  1. Quit Prism
  2. Download and install the latest DivX installer from divx.com
  3. Run Prism
  4. Change Output Format to .avi
  5. Click Encoder Options
  6. Change the video compressor to the DivX encoder
